NOTES

  1. John Thomas Mylrea was the oldest son of Thomas Mylrea, the miller of Glen Wyllin
  2. He was born in 1845 in Michael, and married Jane Stowell in 1880 in Douglas
  3. John Thomas was a ship owner and corn dealer in Castletown. He died tragically at the relatively early age of 48
  4. John Thomas, by virtue of his father's 1876 will, inherited the Mylrea holdings in Michael - a small piece of Quarterland in Dromrewaigh and a third share of "Harry's" mill
  5. He left these holdings to his wife, Jane Stowell (LV 1898) and when she died in 1900, they passed to his only child Thomas who was still a minor (LV 1901)
  6. His son, Thomas, was born in 1883, so only 10 years old when John Thomas died, and 17 years old when his mother died
  7. Young Thomas married in 1904 but tragically his wife died a few months later
  8. Thomas then left for the USA where he married Bertha Margaret Thomas and became a father to two daughters. The family made its home in Oklahoma
  9. In 1908, he sold his 1/3 share of "Harry's" mill that had come to the family originally from John Cain, the village cooper that his grandfather purchased in 1858
